Australian Perforated Metal & Wire Mesh: Our Top 2024 Projects by Sector

Commercial & Retail

Woolworths Supermarkets – Aluminium Panels

With sustainability a priority for many of our customers this year as Australia heads to net zero, our perforated metal helped to ensure that the new Woolworths supermarket in North Parramatta delivered environmentally. Instead of being built from scratch, the new retail complex repurposed a former Bunnings warehouse, with our Australian perforated metal panels a cost-effective solution for the rebrand.

Installed at the building corners, the 100% recyclable aluminium panels are the perfect backdrop for Woolworths and BWS signage, swiftly transforming the site’s facade without significant development, supporting Woolworths’ commitment to sustainability. And as we’re also a sustainable manufacturer – our initiatives include solar power and a comprehensive metal recycling program – this project ticks all the green boxes.

Leisure & Community

Moorebank Sports Club – Brass Mesh

Brass is a timeless metal that never goes out of style, and at Moorebank Sports Club, our brass mesh adds a luxurious yet historic touch to its multimillion-dollar renovation.

The choice of architectural materials was critical to achieving a look that respected the club’s community and military roots. Brass mesh was ideal for giving an aged and elegant aesthetic to the club’s entrance, reception, and gaming desk. Working perfectly with other natural materials, including timber and bronze, this project is a favourite for showcasing how something as simple as brass mesh can elevate a space and create a sense of nostalgia.

The Sherwood – Aluminium & Mild Steel Panels

Our Australian perforated metal can be used in many ways, including to form commercial furniture, fixtures, and fittings. For the hospitality fitout of brand new Macarthur venue, The Sherwood, we perforated panels to create movable bench seating, cabinetry, drinks displays, and shelving.

With the need for a retro vibe, the pattern was a classic – a simple, round style that matches the interior materials and open-plan, airy aesthetic. Used throughout the venue, our perforated panels bring together its different zones, creating a cohesive and modern scheme to meet the design brief.

Public & Private Sector Education

Thuringowa State High School – PixelPerf Custom Panels

Inspiring students is the goal of every school – and at Thuringowa State High School in Queensland, they’ve achieved it in a big way using our custom-made Australian perforated metal panels. Created using our PixelPerf image perforation service that perfectly replicates drawings and illustrations in perforated metal, we punched the school’s House logos and motto into panels to produce signage for the new multi-purpose hall.

The large-scale welcome, wrapping around the entrance, evokes a sense of belonging and pride among students and the community. It also showcases how effectively perforated metal adds a unique and personal element to projects.

Pittwater House – Aluminium panels

Redeveloping a school often means disruption – but clever and cost-effective use of our perforated metal meant that at Pittwater House, it was learning as usual for the students. The Northern Beaches independent private school needed modernisation, but instead of major works, our perforated panels clad over the old brick classrooms, instantly updating the aesthetics.

Panels were also used to create matching connecting galleries, with the perforated metal the top-class solution to give students shade and ventilation. As a finishing touch, all panels were powder-coated in school colours, giving the school a fresh and bright new look without the expense of total redevelopment.

Paramount on Parkes Public Art – Aluminium Panels

When you’re an artist, choosing material is critical to achieving your vision. And for a floating, light-filled installation, there’s only one winner – perforated metal. We punched aluminium panels for a new public art installation at Paramount on Parkes, Parramatta’s new mixed-use development.

Artist Graham Chalcroft’s captivating piece Confluence greets visitors at the entrance. Designed to mimic the story and flow of water to the Parramatta River, each suspended segment features a pair of curved perforated metal panels, creating a moiré effect that gives the illusion of movement. LEDs in the base add to the impact, turning perforated metal into a mesmerising and interactive artistic event.

Public Transport

Mascot Station – PixelPerf Custom Panels

Passengers at Mascot Station in Sydney will always know which route they’re on, with our perforated metal panels bringing a historic aviation photo to life. Situated on the busy Sydney Airport line, the mural was created using our PixelPerf service, which successfully recreated all the small details of the original black-and-white photograph.

To add to the effect, we punched the image into Corten steel – a metal type favoured for its ready-rusted aged appearance, giving the mural a nostalgic sepia tone. This project shows just how well we can reproduce images in perforated metal despite their age.

Waitara Station – Aluminium Panels

Perforated metal panels don’t always have to be straight and rigid – at the new-look Waitara Station, our panels form an undulating, wavy ceiling.

Aluminium was the ideal choice for the project – part of Transport for NSW Transport Access Program – as it is lightweight for ceiling use and flexible. The finished underpass achieves the brief of movement and flow, enhanced by the linear perforated pattern choice that matches the brick walls.
