Custom perforated screens in a Blue Gum design are a first-class solution for Denistone Station’s upgrade, ensuring the new-look station acknowledges not only the traditional custodians of the land but also the heritage of the beloved transport hub.

The modern renovation of the historic station, which has been serving the community since 1937, is part of the NSW Transport for Access Program that makes train travel safe and accessible.
Retaining the heritage features of the station was a major design consideration for the local community, as was the need to reflect the Wallumedegal people, the traditional custodians of the land on which the station sits.
We were brought in by project contractors Haslin Construction to manufacture custom perforated screens in an art-deco style nature design, featuring the leaves and gumnuts of the Blue Gums surrounding the station.
Working from an initial outline drawing supplied by Haslin, we created several variations, adapting and adjusting the pattern to ensure it was translated effectively into perforated metal and achieved the aesthetic goals of the brief.
The design was then precision punched into 5mm-thick aluminium sheets using our PixelPerf CAD-controlled tooling software that replicates bespoke images such as drawings and photographs in perforated metal.
For the finishing touch, we powder-coated the panels in Crystal Green, a soft pale green shade that perfectly complements the station’s historic features.
The custom perforated screens are used for Denistone’s new footbridge, concourse and platform levels, and new lift landing areas, creating protective solid barriers for safer train travel for all. Other improvements at the station include upgraded ramp access, lighting, and wayfinding.
Denistone Station is one of several Transport for Access Program upgrades that Arrow Metal has helped to successfully deliver through our custom perforated screens and metal solutions.
