Perforated metal advice: when we say no

At Arrow Metal we can perforate, punch, and produce the most intricate and bespoke metal products, making the impossible, possible. But there are times when we’ll say no. Expert and trusted perforated metal advice is one of the reasons customers come to us.

So if what you have in mind isn’t really going to work the way you want it to, or last as long as you need it to, we’ll advise against it. Instead we’ll work with you to come up with something better, that still gives you the result you’re looking for.

It’s one of the advantages of collaborating with a specialist perforated metal manufacturer.

Here’s why we might say no to some aspects of your project, and why it matters:

Perforation profile: Perforated metal isn’t just a metal sheet with holes. The hole size, shape, open area space and metal sheet thickness all need to be spot on to achieve the result you need. Too much open space or too little, perforations that are too large, and the wrong style of hole can make or break functionality. We’ll advise the right profile for you, that performs with strength and style.

Customisation: We can perforate metal with almost any design – photographs, illustrations, your own custom creation. If metal is decorative only, you have much more freedom, but if it’s needed for a functional purpose – like balustrade – perforations have to be precise to ensure strength and safety isn’t compromised. We may only need to make a few tweaks to your design to make it work.

Finish: Brass and gold finishes are hot trends in the metal world right now. And with the right type of finish, can be used anywhere. The environment of the perforated metal installation is crucial to how it needs to be finished, taking into account solar exposure, marine air, local weather conditions and more, so the metal colour coating doesn’t deteriorate.

Metal material: Some metals are stronger and more durable than others. Perforated metal most commonly uses aluminium. You might prefer a different metal, but if this isn’t possible because of the functionality, we’ll advise alternatives, and how you can create the perfect look through finish as well.

Timescales: Perforated metal advice counts for your lead times too. If you need a product very quickly, detailed customisation won’t be possible. But we do have a vast range of in-stock perforated metal, in popular profiles and sizes, ready to ship to anywhere in Australia. We can apply a finish to make it uniquely yours.
